No, we haven’t been painting our faces blue!
This week, as part of our continuing study of the computing curriculum we revisited the important topic of e-safety which included both passwords and security. When investigating passwords, we explored the maths behind choosing one that will make it harder for someone else to work out. By including both upper and lower case letters as well as introducing numbers and other special characters in our passwords, we discovered how and why they can be made substantially more complex.
Continuing the theme of online safety, instead of having a real picture on our digital presence we instead generated our own avatars using an online internet service to create representations of ourselves.
Working in pairs we constructed our individual avatars by selecting from different shaped faces, noses, ears and hair styles. Variations including glasses, eye and skin colour could all be selected as we set about trying to turn ourselves in to pixels.
Finally, we had a hugely entertaining game of ‘Guess who?’ as each avatar was presented to the class who then attempted to work out who is was. Some were a little easier to work out than others!
We have included some of our own efforts below, and if you didn’t get the opportunity to create an avatar in the lesson then time will be made available for you to do so next week.
